Bob Powers is a native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, with his musical studies at Old Dominion University and Virginia Commonwealth University. Bob served with The United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own” in Washington D.C. from 1980 to 2011, rising to the rank of sergeant major. Pershing’s Own is the premier musical organization of The U.S. Army. Bob’s service presented him with many exciting and rewarding musical opportunities. During this time he performed for every President from President Carter to President Obama. Bob was principal euphonium and soloist with Pershing’s Own, as a performer and clinician in Canada, Japan, Norway, Sweden, Germany, Spain & throughout the United States. He was also a member of The U.S. Army Herald Trumpets; the official fanfare trumpets for the President. Bob is an active freelance musician, clinician and private brass instructor. As a recording artist Bob has been heard on National Geographic documentaries as well as PBS and commercial television. Bob and his family live in Naples, Florida. His passion for teaching is fulfilled by his studio of students ranging from beginners, middle and high school students to university level & professional musicians.
