The Village School Library Media Center (LMC) works with students and staff in a welcoming, collaborative environment to foster a love of reading, and to help develop their skills in reading, writing, and research while seeking out, identifying, and properly citing reliable print and Internet sources.
Facility & Resources
The LMC houses more than 6,000 books accessed by the online card catalog Destiny.
The LMC is open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Students also have access to a collection of subscription research databases for elementary, middle, and high school students including Kids Infobits, Research in Context, Students Resources in Context, Opposing Viewpoints in Context and Questia School. Kindergarten through first grade students may check out one book at a time. Second through eighth grade students may check out two books at a time. During class projects, students may be allowed to check out over their limit.
Students may exchange their books daily. They may keep their books for up to one week before they must renew them by bringing them back into the library for scanning. Books may be renewed up to two times before they must be returned to the library.
Overdue and Lost Book Policy
The Village School does not assess late fines. Overdue notices will be delivered to the classrooms as a reminder, but lost books must be found, paid for, or replaced with a duplicate book (hard-bound, etc.), before students may resume checking out books.
- Students are to follow the Village School Christ Skills and to treat each other, and the contents of the LMC, as they would like to be treated.
- LMC computers are to be used for educational purposes only, and students are to follow the guidelines stated in the Technology User Agreement.
